This is a powerfully dramatic photo, Madelaine! It shouts alone to me. Her body attitude looks like she is carrying the weight of the world, which leaves her very much alone in thought. Love the context and composition. B&W adds to the rawness of her thoughts. Horizontal lines seem to add to her burden, holding her in a place from which she has been unable to escape. The foreground texture and the “chaos” of the texture of the wall before her only seem to magnify her troubles.

Between this photo and Jens’ chimp photo, I am now depressed! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I not only need “happy” I need Spring!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

When I saw your photo, I said “now, that’s alone!!” Looks like you weren’t too close, you must have good eyesight. ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree with Iona-the horizontal lines and various textures heighten the sense of this person being alone. Looks like it might have been in an abandoned area.

Very dramatic and effective….I get a strong emotional response from this image (isn’t that what photography is all about)? This is sensational!!!!

  4. Terri Creasy says:

Really like the b/w, it lends itself well to the feelings this portrays.

  5. Greg says:

Great choice for the theme and nicely done B&W. I really like this image.

    Just desolate…a desperate cold lonliness.
