Since I stubbed my toe on this theme ( thank you Ellen ) and given the fact that our FD has 2 women on the team, Wow that horn and axe are great examples. I love the background image!! The black edging and brick on the left is a little distracting.

      Hi Jens,
I tried to remove most of the distracting edging on the left, but removing any more would affect the composition. It’s actually part of a frame that surrounds the mural on the wall. You were right though, it does look better. Thanks!
Regarding the ‘masculine’ part, I didn’t mean to imply that all firefighters were men, only that this particular firefighter was a fine example of masculinity! πŸ™‚

Look, it’s Superman in a fireman’s uniform…LOL Quirky and fun and too much testosterone for me! πŸ™‚ Fabulous!

  3. Kerri says:

Very good subject for the theme!

Cool, I like that, Do they consider it to be folk art? What a cool piece of history. Great job? Where was this?

  5. danudin says:

You’d need muscles to swing that axe, and muscles mean masculine, except in my case, chickens insteps is a close description.

At first I was surprised at the quality and subject of your work.
Now I just expect it and can’t wait for the next one.

Fun image!! The bright colors capture one’s attention right away.

The colors in this are just fantastic. It’s an interesting, and odd, artifact. Nice find!

Madelaine! This is wonderful! The basic colors really appeal. Much information is garnered from the background scenes. Really is a great fit for the theme. This depicts the history of the Fire Department. I doubt very much that there were women fire fighters in that particular era/age.

Like the lighting, colors, concept, composition, and subject choice.

A fine specimen indeed! Great color, I love the glimpse of the fire truck in the mural behind.
